Formula 1 2020 Day 1 Testing Results
Today, this is the first start of a three-day winter test in Spain. Lewis Hamilton returned to where he left off after the last race in Abu Dhabi, setting the fastest Mercedes W11 lap of the day.
All 10 teams completed the race in time for an important three-day test on the Catalan circuit near Barcelona.
Today we saw 3 cars for the first time. Haas did release digital photos in early February of this year, but this morning they found a real VF-20 car in the track pit lane. Alfa Romeo also revealed their uniforms on the 2020 car named C39, which Renault had never seen before before the R.S.20 they were talking about, and drove out of the garage.
In the morning it was Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas, who topped the Mercedes W11. At the end of the day, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen drove 168 laps. Last year, Sebastian Vettel drove 169 laps on the first day of the Ferrari SF90, becoming the most lap, while Verstappen ran only 128 laps.
The lap runner-up was Carlos Sainz. McLaren also proved to be very reliable, driving 161 laps. Last year, the Spanish driver made 119 laps on the first day.
